Is the craze for smart phone is going to decline after 10 to 15 years, Know The Reasons Smartphones are ubiquitous in modern society, with nearly everyone owning one? However, Meta’s Chief AI Scientist has made the bold claim that smartphones will become obsolete within the next 10-15 years. This assertion has sparked widespread confusion, as many people cannot envision life without these devices. Smartphones have become integral to our daily routines, serving as essential tools for countless tasks. The idea of a future without smartphones is difficult to imagine, given our heavy reliance on them.

Yann LeCun, Vice President and Chief AI Scientist at Meta, has stated that augmented reality (AR) glasses will replace smartphones. However, many people are unfamiliar with AR glasses and how they function. It is worth noting that products incorporating advanced AI are becoming increasingly common, as every major tech company is heavily investing in AI development. Therefore, it is not implausible to imagine a future where we live without smartphones.

The primary impact of abandoning smartphones in the future would be the loss of direct interaction with apps and services. Instead, smart assistants would handle tasks on our behalf, requiring us to request their assistance continually. This shift could be seen as a more convenient tool, potentially enhancing and simplifying our daily lives.

“The last thing we might want is intelligent virtual assistants that help us in our daily lives. So today all of us here are carrying a smartphone in our pockets, 10 years from now or 15 years from now we’re not going to have smartphones anymore, we’re going to have augmented reality glasses,” LeCun said in a conference.

He added, “The computer will still be in our pockets, but we’ll talk to our glasses and the glasses will display the content.”

Numerous companies are actively developing artificial intelligence-powered products designed to execute daily tasks autonomously, without reliance on smartphones. One example is the Humane AI pin, a wearable device equipped with a projector that displays a compact screen on the user’s hand.

This device operates via voice commands and a built-in camera, enabling users to perform various functions without the need for a smartphone. A plethora of AI tools already available in the market purport to serve as virtual assistants, aiming to emancipate individuals from their dependence on mobile phones.

The stagnation in smartphone evolution prompts the question: is it nearing time for their retirement? Will individuals be capable of functioning without a smartphone, and will they readily embrace emerging technologies? While numerous inquiries arise, definitive answers remain elusive. Patience is required as we await developments in the future.
